A residential enclave since the 1920s
Meridian Hills sits about 8 miles north of downtown. Homes went up from the early 1920s as affluent families built in what was then countryside, and Meridian Hills Country Club opened in 1923. Residents voted to incorporate in 1937 for stricter zoning, and the town has been an included town of Indianapolis since 1970. It had 1,774 residents at the 2020 census.
