About Beech Grove
A railroad town from 1906
Beech Grove was incorporated in 1906 as a company town for the Big Four railroad's new repair shops. Cottages went up as workers arrived, and the streets were named for cities on the Big Four, such as Albany, Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit. Amtrak bought the shops in 1975, and the city had 14,717 residents at the 2020 census.
That history left a city of modest older houses, many with wood siding and trim that have been painted many times, plus later houses built as the city filled in. Repaints, trim repairs, rentals and interior updates make up most of our Beech Grove work.
